When arriving in Las Vegas, probably the first tourist attraction that you’ll see will be the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign. Located on the outskirts of the city, this sign is well known around the world and can be a great spot for taking pictures.
Heading further north, you will ultimately arrive on the Las Vegas strip. Expect to see a breathtaking view of world-class luxury resorts and casinos as you pass by the Miracle Mile Shops, and the Fountains of Bellagio. Travel further, and you will see Caesar’s Palace on the left, the Venetian Resort to the right, and so many other marvelous venues in between. You won't be able to miss the High Roller, the world’s largest observation wheel.
Located off the strip to the east side, are the Atomic Museum and the Las Vegas Monorail. At the north end of the strip meanwhile, is the Fashion Show Las Vegas. This is a popular area for shopping featuring many iconic luxury brands and discount outlets.
At the north end of Vegas, is the area best known as Old Las Vegas. This area features the popular Freemont Street Experience and the Neon Museum, home to many ancient Las Vegas artifacts. When traveling between Old Vegas and the Strip its a great chance to visit the Stratosphere Tower with its breathtaking views, and the Chapel of Flowers, regularly voted as “The Best Place to Get Married in Las Vegas.”
The strip itself, which features so many of Las Vegas most popular casinos and resorts, is not so large and in theory it should be easy to walk from one end to the other. In reality, keep in mind hot temperatures and excessive foot traffic can make this journey more difficult than it might initially appear at first glance.
The city’s Monorail service provides a good substitution, running alongside of the main strip and making stops at most of the major hotels and attractions. A single ticket ride can be expected to cost 5 USD while multi-trip passes are also available.
Some hotels and venues will offer shuttle buses to and from other popular attractions. In other cases, taxis and ridesharing services can be your best option for getting around the city. Many hotels have taxi ranks directly outside their entrances. Taxi charges will vary depending on the time of day and the amount of traffic on the strip.
Rental cars can be another good option for traveling in Vegas, particularly in cases when traveling beyond the Strip. Many companies operate services at Harry Reid Airport as well as at different venues throughout the city. Prices will vary and exotic car options are widely available, but standard size cars will typically come at a charge of 20-40 USD on a daily rate.
